Another week, another class!

November 30, 2017

This week we celebrated Autumn Week. Its right at the end of the season I know, but it was just too good a theme to let slide this year!

I uploaded a video to our Facebook Page which you can find online by searching for @sensoryadventure

It shows you just a few of the things we do! I cut out Fajitas in the shape of large leaves and made up 5 pots of edible paint in Autumn theme colours and added spices such as cinnamon, mixed spice etc to add to the taste factor. The children love edible painting activities and spend extended time at this station in paticular! Its an entirely edible station so completely risk free of nasties and this allows children to explore new tastes and textures.....

Whilst we really encourage tasting in our sessions there are some things we dont want the children to taste but we think they will love to explore. We have some safe ways to do this. Firstly all our floor trays contain entirely edible fresh food. Taste away. Anything on a stand or raised will be safe for children to explore, be non toxic but not "taste safe". We raise these stations up so you know your little one will need supervision here.

Here is our leaves and scented pine cones station....

As well as raised stations we sometimes create other ways to explore non edibles in a safe way such as sensory bottles and bags. Here are our Autumn leaves with added glitter within a ziplock bag. Fantastic for babies!

We just love playdough at Sensory Adventure so we made scented spiced dough with cooked pasta and made hedgehogs!

We loved how the cooked pasta was Autumn colours and acted as "leaves" for our hedgehogs!

Leaf painting was another very popular station! The children really loved printing the leaves with help!

As well as all of these activities we also had our sensory dark den with light show and we played games with our parachute and blew bubbles too!

I hope this has given you a good insight into our classes and shown you just how educational and planned each class is. We love that children enjoy getting messy, lets add knowledge and skills in too!

Next Tuesday, 5th December is Winter Week....... Do you want to buikd a snowman.?
