Well we are two weeks in and so far we have had Poppy Week and Pudsey Week! We have made Poppies using Plates, Playdough, Pasta and Paint. Hang on, that's a lot of Ps! Not intentional at all!
We have also had Pudsey Week, more Ps! For Pudsey Week I wanted to try something different and our bread painting really is popular so this seemed like a good start.
I decided to buy some Fajitas cut them into bear head shapes and using an edible food pen in black I freehand drew Pudseys face and Bandanna on. I then mixed up some edible paint in Yellow, Blue Green and Red and we painted the Fajitas. The end result was amazing! Once dried we were left with full colour Fajita Pudsey Bear Heads and what child wouldn't want to eat those?!
You see Sensory Adventure is more than just getting messy. There is a very good reason why I spend so long thinking up the messy play activities I create. For each week I select a theme. Once I have this theme I think of foods that I feel represent that theme, it could be colour or texture or what I can do with those foods. My planning of classes is very detailed and thorough....
Edibles and Non Edibles
Sight, Sounds, Scents, Touch and Tastes.......
I like the classes to be different each week. I also include regular favorites too such as Painting, Playdough and Slime because we all know these are the things most parents ideally wouldn't want in their homes all the time. Once Ive planned what we are doing with those 3 activities I go on to plan the rest.
Before I started Sensory Adventure I spent a great deal of time planning 36 weeks of classes all written up into "Lesson Plans" I wanted them to include learning elements too and I also like to incorporate round the world celebrations.
This really is a brief description of what goes on behind the scenes of Sensory Adventure each week and I hope when you come to our classes itll give you a god insight into what we have laid out and why.
Im looking forward to meeting lots of you over the coming months!
